Ramiro Lacayo opted for a visual language that could express this without hindrances from symbols or interpretations of the real world: abstract expressionism. His work consists of heavy impastos applied with brushes and palette knives, which he moves around on the canvas until it reaches a compositional balance. Although driven by emotion, his works are not thoughtless, nor the mere application of paint on the canvas surface; Lacayo's work and practice have been well informed by the history of the style, the study of color, and his knowledge of the principles of design.

"Conversations III " makes a small homage to the techniques used by the abstract expressionists of the School of New York: Color field and action painting. The pink square in the foreground occupies most of the composition (color field), but its rendering is through energetic brushstrokes (action painting), creating a perfect balance between both techniques.
