Ramiro Lacayo opted for a visual language that could express this without hindrances from symbols or interpretations of the real world: abstract expressionism. His work consists of heavy impastos applied with brushes and palette knives, which he moves around on the canvas until it reaches a compositional balance. Although driven by emotion, his works are not thoughtless, nor the mere application of paint on the canvas surface; Lacayo's work and practice have been well informed by the history of the style, the study of color, and his knowledge of the principles of design.

"Untitled V", possesses a water-like nature to it, where the blue and white serve as water, and the small red elements are reminiscent of fish; it can be described as a view from the top of a small pond.
