Ramiro Lacayo opted for a visual language that could express this without hindrances from symbols or interpretations of the real world: abstract expressionism. His work consists of heavy impastos applied with brushes and palette knives, which he moves around on the canvas until it reaches a compositional balance. Although driven by emotion, his works are not thoughtless, nor the mere application of paint on the canvas surface; Lacayo's work and practice have been well informed by the history of the style, the study of color, and his knowledge of the principles of design.

"Rojo I " uses red-orange and blue-green to create a visual vibrancy, this thanks to their complementary relationship, and the brushstrokes add an energetic air to the work.
